9 entre cada 10 pessoas começando a aprender um novo idioma têm receio de se expressar. Neste vídeo, a palestrante Ellen de Visser, faz uma analogia muito interessante, aprender um idioma é como jogar ping pong, todo mundo joga e com o tempo todos se tornam melhores. Já com idiomas criamos uma barreira artificial, que só existe em nossas cabeças, de que para falar um idioma precisamos antes conhecer todas as palavras, todas as regras gramaticais, e falar com fluência, o que é claramente impossível. E ao criarmos esta barreira, nos privamos de experiências riquíssimas ao não interagir com as pessoas.
